60s French Candians had the coolest sweaters...
I (Lindsay, of course) am in an Issues in Canadian Cinema class and we have been watching a lot of old french canadian films and documentaries of the 60's. One of the most memorable for me was called Pour La Suite Du Monde directed by Michel Brault and Pierre Perrault in 1963.
It is about the residents of an island in the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, that have agreed to re-enact their traditional Beluga Whale hunt for the filmmakers, one last time.
but thats not important...
(although it is a really great film and totally influential for early direct cinema. I would recommend you watch it but its almost impossible to find with subtitles so good luck with that)
but what REALLY stood out to me in this film was:
the absolutely unreal sweaters almost every man has!
those are just the two examples I could pin point in the film without re watching the whole thing, but they are literally everywhere! and all equally as awesome as this! Now I could maybe attempt knitting such a thing, but it would legit take me years and/or I would give up. The alternative: buying one. Well the lovely Kristina Gottli has been thinking about buying one so so similar to this one but in the white grey and red colours that you all know I am obsessed with, however it is over 200 dollars :| thats pretty steep. I should learn how to knit this and make knitting my full time job for that kinda money! yeesh!
But look at how cool they arrrrre, It's probably worth it.
ps Kristina: dont feel bad for the sheep. they are fine. im sure of it. ugh. haha
dont let her sway you away from purchasing this masterpiece!
Also, one last point:
French Canadians in the 60s look a lot like hipster today, amiright?!

cold weather means knitting season is back!
This looks fantastic for the cold winter weather.
also super easy to make!
note to self: make yourself a couple.
also huge circular scarves seem to be very popular right now, but are soo so expensive to buy! 40 dollars for a cable knit one from roots.. are you kidding me?!
how about like 10 dollars and several hours of time well spent instead. I think yes :)
maybe ill have one done by snowfall... maybe haha

st kitts mitts.
I know we've already posted about the success of our mitten learning adventures. I just wanted to post a couple I've done recently. They are very easy to make:
Next knitting attempt I believe will be socks. Although I am kind of up for a challenge, so I may try and make a sweater despite the fact that sweater weather will be over shortly.
I plan on soon selling some stuff soon in stores. I'll update about it one day... maybe.
